Step by step method

  • Step 1

    Remove and discard casings from sausage.

  • Step 2

    Cook sausage in a large skillet, stirring until sausage crumbles and is no longer pink; drain.

    Add green onions and next 3 ingredients to skillet.

  • Step 4

    Sauté 4 minutes or until vegetables are tender.

  • Step 5

    Stir in roasted bell peppers.

  • Step 6

    Drain and cool.

  • Step 7

    Spread 4 cups of bread cubes in a lightly greased 13- x 9-inch baking dish.

  • Step 8

    Top with half each of the sausage mixture and cheese.

  • Step 9

    Repeat with remaining bread, sausage, and cheese.

  • Step 10

    Whisk together eggs and milk.

  • Step 11

    Pour egg mixture over bread.

  • Step 12

    Cover and chill 8 hours.

  • Step 13

    Bake, covered, at 325° for 1 hour or until bubbly and hot.
